Training? It doesn't get any better than this...

Our apprentice electricians serve in a New York State approved five-year program. They receive on the job training, as well as 185 hours of classroom/lab instruction per year in all aspects of the electrical trade. The training program also provides training to all classifications of electricians as well as upgrade courses in new codes and technologies. The result is an employee who is well trained in all aspects of the electrical construction industry.

Training at the CNYJATC
The CNYJATC (Central New York Joint Area Training Center) is one of the finest electrician training facilities in the nation. With an Apprenticeship program and continuing education, our union electricians are the best around!
Apprenticeship Program
An apprenticeship combines on-the-job and classroom training. This allows you as the apprentice to actually earn while you learn. As an apprentice, you will work year-round for electrical contractors, and attend classroom sessions during the academic year. As you learn by doing, you are paid directly by the contractor with which you are employed.
Apprenticeship Requirements
- at least 17 years of age to apply
- at least 18 years of age to work
- a resident of the IBEW Local 43 jurisdiction
- a high school graduate (or a have a GED)
- achieve a qualifying score on a aptitude test
