TRAINING CENTER NEWS

IMPORTANT! On July 25, 2025, the New York State Code Council voted to adopt the 2025 Uniform Code. The previous Uniform Code referenced the 2017 National Electrical Code (NEC), while the newly adopted 2025 Uniform Code references the 2023 NEC. The official effective date of the new Uniform Code is December 31, 2025.

Projects with a valid building permit issued before December 31, 2025 may continue to operate under the 2017 NEC and will not be affected. Any project permitted on or after that date will be required to comply with the 2023 NEC.

The Training Center offers Code Update training. If there is sufficient interest, an in-person class will be scheduled. Individual study is also available through our Computer Mediated Learning (CML) system. Please contact the Training Center if you are interested in Code Update training.

The Training Center has 2023 NEC code books available for Journeymen. At this time, the Training Center does not plan to purchase 2026 code books, as the 2026 NEC is not currently enforced by local jurisdictions.
